435 (Newcastle-under-Lyme) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets

Welcome to the online home of 435 (Newcastle-under-Lyme) Squadron.

I am Flight Lieutenant Tom Cockeram, Officer Commending 435. As the only independent squadron in the Newcastle area we cater for a large section of the county, with our skilled cadets being drawn from far and wide by our many opportunities supported by a dedicated staff team, which includes teachers, engineers and ex-service personal, to name but a few. As an ex cadet myself I know how important the time spent in cadets is to our young people, which is why through my many years as an OC I have strived to support their goals, with 435 being my latest command I am excited to head up the squadrons pioneering work for the future.

Flight Lieutenant Tom Cockeram.

The air cadets is the UKs largest uniformed youth organisation, supporting young men and women in developing skills needed to pursue a military or civil career, although no longer a recruiting organisation the cadets equip you well to progress into work and creates friendships that last a lifetime.

The squadron parades around 30 cadets every Tuesday and Friday, with the full range of activities available from our staffs range of skills, we operate in close proximity to the Stoke-on-Trent squadron group allowing us to work closely with them for mutual benefit. We have access to an indoor and outdoor parade square, flight simulator, HF radio mast and many more specialist training tools which won’t be found in some of our neighbouring squadrons.

The squadron has a rich history, dating back nearly as far as the air cadets itself, with many of our cadets going on to careers in the military and aviation.
